Self-discipline begins with the mastery of your thoughts. If you don’t control what you think, you can’t control what you do. What is needed today especially among the young is to sharpen the mind and have mental toughness.
A man says to a friend, “My cousin is on a three-week diet.” “Oh, yeah? How much has he lost so far?” “Two weeks.”
It is more important to know what you’re becoming rather than what you’re getting.
We should embark on the discipline of seeking knowledge than to consider the comfort of ignorance. It is not true that “what you do not know won’t hurt you,” What is true is what you do not know could destroy or you. It could even kill you.
Be a seeker of knowledge. Be a life-long learner. Always learn something new every day.
“The only discipline that lasts is self-discipline.” ~Bum Phillips
