You see a person’s true color when you are no longer beneficial to their lives. But that’s not the way God sees us. He gave His life for us even when we were still sinners and unworthy. You and I carry intrinsic worth and we should not live lives as if it carries no value at all. In Him we are confident. No amount of insult or sarcasm from others can bring down our sense of worth.
Pedro, Mike, Ben, and Juan were talking about their dream jobs. “I want to be a lawyer,” Pedro began, “so that I can defend my countrymen.” “I want to be a congressman,” said Mike, “so I can draft laws to benefit my countrymen.” “I want to be a doctor,” said Ben, “so that I can cure my countrymen.”
“How about you, Juan? What would you like to be?” asked Mike. Juan thought a moment and replied, “I’d like to be a countryman.”
Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.
