Give and Gift

GIVE and GIFT are in the word forgiveness. When I decide to forgive someone who has wronged me, that is a GIFT that I GIVE to that person. And when I have decided to move on without the person with no bitterness at all – though I may remember the offence and the betrayal of trust as a lesson learned; and now with no need to have anything to do with him or her, then that is a gift I am giving to myself.

Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it. I am sure you are grateful to a lot of people who have helped you. So now go and unwrap the gift and let them know. It’s a perfect time to do that this Christmas season.

And here’s how to bring our actions to the next level according to William Arthur Ward… Do more than care: HELP. Do more than believe: PRACTICE. Do more than belong: PARTICIPATE. Do more than be fair: BE KIND. Do more than forgive: FORGET. Do more than dream: WORK.

Self and Selfie

I bet you have mastered the selfie; the question now is have we mastered the self?

There is a difference between an image and the true person. The image should not be a cover up or a pretension of the person but the real person should make the image connect with reality and this is what makes it beautiful.

When an honest and competent person gives us a negative comment we should be grateful and take that as a feedback designed to improve the self. But when a dishonest, unethical and incompetent person accuses us of being hard and stubborn, then take that as a compliment. They are operating on different standards.

There is power in the ability to evaluate the self. The key however is objectivity and we may be blindsided. This is why feedback from people we trust is important and we should be willing to accept correction. Successful people are always evaluating and improving themselves. The ones who do not are are usually evaluating and judging others.

Had a Bad Day?

So you have had a bad day. I have. All of us do from time to time. Someone said this and has served as a good reminder for me. Perhaps this can help you too: Having a bad day doesn’t mean you have had a bad life.

So let’s get over it and move on. Tomorrow will be better.

Put your hand on your heart. Feel that? That’s called purpose. Don’t give up!

We cannot get everyone to agree with us. That is a fact. Some would not even like us. There will be haters. There will be criticism. There will be those who love to bad mouth. And there will be those who will doubt you.

Just stick to the truth and focus on doing what is right. Truth will one day prove them wrong. Don’t play their game.

Here is the key: If you can’t beat them NEVER join them. Not worth it at all.

Sometimes we have to fight through some bad days to earn the best days of our life.

Good Storms

One of the most valuable lessons I have learned in life is that bad situations may seem bad at that moment but in hindsight they were crucial for positive changes imposed on me that I would not have accepted had the times been good and comfortable.

It is always meaningful and fulfilling when you go through obstacles and experience a hard-won accomplishment. Gives you a feeling of joy able to do a difficult thing extremely well.

Always work for something that is beyond our present gratification. And as we grow in wisdom, we’ll realize that our main goal in life are not happiness but Godliness. Not reputation, but character. Not wealth, but virtue. Not fame, but faith.

For all the things shall fade away but the Love of the Lord stands forever! Not all storms come to disrupt your life, many of them come to clear you path.

Never Fails

Here’s a nice quote that I would like to share with you: LIFE is BEAUTIFUL. Don’t spoil your day by looking at the negative things of life. Instead look at GOD’s creations around us. New day after a long night. Rainbow after the rain. Solution to a problem. Help in times of need. These things bring us new hope. GOD’s love never fails.

We have strength when we know our weaknesses. We are beautiful when we know our flaws. We have wisdom when we learn from our mistakes. You and I are works in progress.

And this is why there is something wrong with anyone who insists that he or she is right every time. Live life with humility knowing that God’s Grace is there for those who are willing to accept it. Life is never about success; it is always about progress.

Energy Vampires

People are always unavailable for people who are constantly complaining and angry all the time. It’s not that they are insensitive, it is simply because their energy are zapped and their beauty is uglified by all that negativity. Put on a smile on your face and be an encourager instead. The world opens up to you in terms of friendship and opportunities.

Surround yourself with the dreamers and the doers, the believers and the thinkers. But most of all surround yourself with those who see greatness within you.

Some people equate the worth of a person with the work he or she produces. That is all so wrong. You are worth so much not because of what you do but because of what Christ has done for you on the cross. This is why only Christ gives intrinsic worth. No need to feel sorry for yourself. You are worth so much in the eyes of The One who have His life for you.

Good Things, Bad Things

Good things usually require pains. Bad things bring more pains. No one can escape pains; they are part and parcel of our daily living.

There are however two kinds of pains we can choose to have.

– The pain of discipline.
– The pain of regrets.

Trust me. The first one may bring momentary discomfort but will yield good results in the future. The second one will always be more painful in the future if one chooses to escape the first one.

Consequently, there’s the truth and the lie. Truth is like a surgey. It hurts but cures. Lie is like a pain killer. It gives instant relief but has side effects forever.

Love God More

The right idea for life and living is not to love things less but to love God more. Self deprivation is not a virtue but self gratification is. And the more our love for God increases the more it loosens our love and hold for money and things. The year is almost over, it’s a good time for us to assess what or who we love more.

The older I get the more I realise how true this is: That I can never boast about my love for God because I fail Him on a regular basis. But I can brag about His love for me because He Never Fails! This realization is also one of the most liberating experience one can ever have in HIM; that we do not and cannot “earn” His Love. But that He loves us because He is love. And that we respond by knowing Him and doing what He says.

Measuring life by what others do to us may disappoint us. But measuring life by what we do to others will add more meaning to our life. The key here is to cultivate gratitude and make it a life mission to help others. This is what brings joy to life and living.
