Feed Your Mind

We pay 10 times more attention to bad news than good news. Don’t go to bed after watching the news. You may bring the bad news with you to your sleep and dreams. Don’t wake up in the morning and start the day with the news either.

Start the day right. Do your quiet time or devotionals. Build your inner strength first. Make sure you feed your mind with good things.

In most instance when it comes to work, do not spend too much energy and time just to prove something. One of the best things to do is to IMPROVE on it quietly and let the quality of our work do the announcing for us. Save your time and energy and use them for better use. Once you waste them, you immediately lose.

You and I have to make sure that we put our attention on the things that matter. Because we are what we eat, watch, read and do. And we are what we feed our mind. Be happy and positive. 😉

Self and Selfie

I bet you have mastered the selfie; the question now is have we mastered the self?

There is a difference between an image and the true person. The image should not be a cover up or a pretension of the person but the real person should make the image connect with reality and this is what makes it beautiful.

When an honest and competent person gives us a negative comment we should be grateful and take that as a feedback designed to improve the self. But when a dishonest, unethical and incompetent person accuses us of being hard and stubborn, then take that as a compliment. They are operating on different standards.

There is power in the ability to evaluate the self. The key however is objectivity and we may be blindsided. This is why feedback from people we trust is important and we should be willing to accept correction. Successful people are always evaluating and improving themselves. The ones who do not are are usually evaluating and judging others.

Quiet People

Quiet people are not necessarily lonely, they may actually be enjoying the silence. People who are loud may not exactly be happy, sometimes they are just good in disguising their sadness. Appearance never tell the entire story.

There’s now what is called “disconnection anxiety”. This is when there’s no Wi-Fi or low-batt or no book or no television. And people become so anxious they don’t know how to handle the situation anymore.

Technology does not have a soul. You and I have. Learn to quiet the soul and be attuned to its Maker.

In the workplace, there are people who do not work much but are good in grabbing credit. There are those who quietly do the work and enjoy their accomplished work. One day the deficiencies of the fakers will be revealed. Meanwhile the quiet performers continue to upgrade their capabilities reaping their rewards. There’s no limit to what can be accomplished if it doesn’t matter who gets the credit.

Just A Memory

People today may no longer remember the celebrities of yesteryears. This is a lesson we all must learn. One day, no matter how much we have achieved, no matter how many followers we have in our social media account, you and I will just be a memory.

And even that will fade so there is absolutely no reason we need to be proud and arrogant. Just do our job well, be honest, be kind and live life to the full in God’s presence.

Remember the time when you’re hanging out with friends and family? Then you start recalling memories, blasts from the past where some incredible stuff happened? Some were good, some really funny? They were unique and special. Spend these days creating moments and cultivating memories that will be remembered.

Watching TV is a fake experience, video games are fake accomplishments, dating apps are fake intimacies. Create real experiences and beautiful moments with the people who matter to you.

Happy halloween!

Relationships Matter

When it comes to friendship, favors are stronger currencies compared to money. Help without expecting anything in return for if you do, then it is no longer a favour and neither is it a help; it becomes a transaction.

When it comes to business we need to invest in relationships. This way, we’ll get a good return. A great percentage of our business should be a repeat business if we’ll prioritize relationship over much income. When it comes to employment do not burn bridges. This way you can still bank on future possibilities. Relationships matter.

On the other hand, some people claim they are your friends but they are reliable only when it is convenient. True friends are true when they are there during times of troubles. This is why you and I should make ourselves available when our friends are in their times of need. This is the true test of friendship.

Start Walking

Have you ever had a friend correct you? Did he or she approach you gently or get in your face and raise their voice? Were they gentle or rough? Makes all the difference. It’s not always what you say that is wrong, but it’s the way you say it. The next time you need to confront someone about a problem, make sure you choose your words and your tone of voice wisely and skilfully.

Sensitive, serious relationships require serious, faithful commitment and responsibility. And if after a long while you are still confused and cannot figure out where you stand with someone, it might be time to stop standing and to start walking. That may just be your true independence day!

Two Commitments

Two commitments we need to make and this should be done on a daily basis. Do this 24/7 and you have a weekly victory. Do this 52 weeks and you will see substantial progress yearly. Do this a few years and you will see dramatic improvement in your lifetime. And these commitments are:

1. To stay faithful in all of our relationships. (God, family, friends, business dealings)

2. To improve self. (Continuous learning. Willing to be corrected.)

Complete the sentence: “Promises are made to be… ?” I hope you did not say broken. Promises when made should be fulfilled. Commitments should be delivered even when it translates to our own loss. Word said should be as good as gold. This is how one gains credibility and trustworthiness. Many do not know that this is the principle behind sustainable success whether in business or career. But those who do they experience true success.

Good Things, Bad Things

Good things usually require pains. Bad things bring more pains. No one can escape pains; they are part and parcel of our daily living.

There are however two kinds of pains we can choose to have.

– The pain of discipline.
– The pain of regrets.

Trust me. The first one may bring momentary discomfort but will yield good results in the future. The second one will always be more painful in the future if one chooses to escape the first one.

Consequently, there’s the truth and the lie. Truth is like a surgey. It hurts but cures. Lie is like a pain killer. It gives instant relief but has side effects forever.
